Filter integrity testing is required to ensure the effectiveness of sterile filtration, which is an essential terminal sterilization step for the microbial safety of biopharmaceutical products. Pre-use testing confirms that the filter meets the manufacturer’s specifications and has not been damaged during sterilization. Post-use testing verifies that the filter maintained its integrity during operation and achieved the expected bacterial retention performance.
A filter integrity tester determines filter or membrane integrity by measuring or observing the volume of gas that passes through a pre-wetted filter or membrane under a defined gas pressure gradient.
The main unit consists of three parts: the pressure control unit, the data processing unit, and the connection unit.
