The GM200e TOC Analyzer uses the membrane conductivity detection principle. A peristaltic pump extracts the sample, and after a chemical reagent injection pump adds acid reagent and oxidizing agent in a controlled amount, the sample is divided into two streams. One stream under goes oxidation underthe combined action of a UV lamp and oxidizing agent, completely oxidizing the organic matter in the sample into carbon dioxide. The other stream remains unoxidized, with the total inorganic carbon in the sample serving as the background. Both streams pass through a membrane filtration module, which transfers the carbon dioxide to the internal circulation, and the conductivity changes are then detected by a carbon dioxide sensor. Using the formula TOC = TC – IC, the total organic carbon concentration in the sample is finally calculated.
