Tailin MD500 Microbial Detection Analyzer Validated by Provincial Authorities for Rapid Testing

Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Concentration Analyzer

Explore how Tailin HK200 Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Concentration Analyzer optimizes VH2O2 sterilization in food & beverage aseptic filling. Achieve 31.5% higher concentration, 50% better stability, and prevent condensation via real-time dew point monitoring.

Introduction: Challenges in Aseptic Sterilization

In modern food and beverage aseptic filling, Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide is the industry standard for dry sterilization. However, many manufacturers face three critical pain points:

  • Invisible Concentration: Inability to monitor H2O2 levels in real-time within long pipelines.
  • Cold Spot Risks: Condensation leading to equipment clogging and scaling.
  • High Costs: Excessive H2O2 injection to compensate for uncertainty, increasing energy and material waste.

Solution: A global aseptic packaging leader integrated Tailin’s HK200 Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Concentration Analyzer to visualize the sterilization process and optimize parameters via dew point and relative saturation calculations.

Case Study: Application Analysis

1. Optimization of Pipeline Insulation

The analyzer was installed at the preform sterilization outlet to evaluate the impact of insulation.

  • Before Insulation: Concentration fluctuated at 9500±3000 ppm.
  • After Insulation: Concentration stabilized at 12500±1500 ppm.
  • Result: A 31.5% increase in concentration and a 50% improvement in process stability.

2. Process Parameter Optimization

By monitoring concentration gradients at the VH2O2 outlet, we optimized vaporization temperature and injection rates to prevent material and energy waste.

  • Key Finding: H2O2 and H2O concentrations do not increase indefinitely with higher temperatures or injection volumes.
  • Benefit: Identifying the “sweet spot” for parameters significantly lowers operational costs.

3. Condensation Control & Sterilization Reliability

Real-time monitoring of H2O2/H2O concentrations allows for the precise calculation of dew point and relative saturation.

At 166 L/min carrier gas flow and 270°C vaporization, the dew point remains stable despite injection increases (Fig. 4).

With the hydrogen peroxide injection volume maintained at 450 uL/s and the carrier gas flow rate at 166 L/min, the saturation change curve was obtained when the pipeline temperature gradually decreased from 270°C to 75°C (Fig 5).

Figure 4 & 5: Dew Point and Saturation Curves

Results indicated that when the dew point temperature ranges from 63°C to 75°C, controlling the pipeline heat tracing or insulation temperature to be more than 20°C higher than the dew point temperature can avoid condensation, improve sterilization effects under relatively high saturation, and reduce pipeline fouling.

Test Summary

  • Real-time Monitoring: With a rapid 1s data response rate, the analyzer enables instantaneous monitoring and validation of sterilization efficacy.
  • Process Optimization: By precisely monitoring H2O2 and H2O concentrations, the system optimizes process parameters to lower material and energy costs while reducing aeration/residue removal pressure.
  • Risk Mitigation: By calculating dew point and relative saturation, the analyzer ensures accurate temperature settings for pipelines and chambers, effectively preventing condensation and system clogging.
